Two of Ghana’s most celebrated business and entertainment icons – Prince Kofi Amoabeng and Sarkodie respectively – inspired students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Saturday through the sharing of their career and life experiences.

This was made possible at the maiden edition of the empowerment summit by Vodafone Ghana and UT Group dubbed “X-Men Tour” at the Great Hall of KNUST. The summit is aimed at motivating and inspiring the youth to achieve greatness by bringing together the most influential and successful people in Ghana to share their experiences.

X-Men Tour 2016 was hosted by radio and TV presenter, Anita Erskine-Amaizo.

The two guests spoke about their path to success and challenges faced to motivate the students, who appeared to be mainly fans of Sarkodie.

Prince Kofi Amoabeng stressed on the need for students to do things as their contribution to the world and not for personal gain or satisfaction. He added that he doesn’t fear anything in the world and is not afraid to take risks. These among others helped him succeed as the founder of the UT Group.

During his turn, Sarkodie narrated the ordeal he went through as a kid and an underground rapper. He stressed on the need to be patient and smart in pursuit of success. He further advised students to learn how to manage finances very and care for family and close relatives as we chase the dream. He spoke about how he got broke one time although he was performing at shows. That taught him a great lesson to learn how to manage his money.

The two guests later took turns to answer questions from students.

Sarkodie performed “Hand to mouth” to thrill fans and to bring down the curtains.

The event was generally successful, the host was outstanding, the set-up was on-point but more students would have benefited from the event if it was held before the exams period and on time. The 2-hour late start made many students leave the Great Hall before the guests arrived.

Big ups to Vodafone Ghana and UT Group for having students at heart. myJCR salutes you for this great initiative.
