Three arrested for robbing, raping students

The police in Kumasi have arrested three suspects for robbing students of the St Dominic Senior High School located at Wadie Adwumakase and raping one of its female students.

Kwadwo Dwamena, a trader was arrested together with two of his accomplices, Osei Kwabena and Dominic Frimpong, both drivers and residents of Wadie Adwumakase and Antoa, respectively.

Robbery

Briefing the press, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Osei Ampofo Duku said on May 21, 2015 at about 10:30 p.m., while the victims were asleep in the dormitory, the suspects, armed with a locally made pistol, besieged the dormitory and ordered the students to surrender their mobile phones, money and provisions amidst threats and beatings.

Rape

He said during the operation, Dwamena at gun point, took one of the female students to the back of the dormitory and forcibly slept with her on a heap of sand.

Arrest

ACP Duku said in response to a distress call, the police rushed to the scene and arrested Dwamena who was in possession of the locally manufactured pistol with one live cartridge lodged in its chamber.
Upon interrogation, he said Dwamena mentioned Osei and Frimpong as his accomplices and led the police to arrest them.
He said when Osei’s room was searched, five mobile phones, two tins of milk and different types of assorted washing powder and detergents were retrieved.
