Former UCC Vice-Chancellor honoured by Aberdeen University

The Aberdeen University in Scotland has conferred an honorary doctorate degree on Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng. Rev. Prof. Obeng is the Vice President (Academic) of the Central University College and former Vice-Chancellor of University of Cape Coast.

 

The honour on Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng is in recognition of his contribution to the development of education in Ghana and to the growth and expansion of the University of Cape Coast especially in the area of distance education.

The Aberdeen University each year confers the doctorate on distinguished individuals for genuine achievement and distinction in a field or activity to celebrate and also to provide their students with inspirational role models. The event took place on Saturday 6th July 2013.

Incidentally Prof. Adow Obeng who is among this year’s recipient obtained his PhD from the same University in 1981. The award is the second honorary doctorate on the Prof, with the first coming from University of Cape Coast where he was Vice Chancellor for 7 years.

He joins a list of accomplished men in Law, Industry, and Medicine to have received this honorary degree.
Aside recognition from Academic institutions he has also been recognized by the state with an order of the Volta (Companion Divisions) for his contribution to higher education.

The vice president academic is a New Testament Studies professor and an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
